A shocking news came out 2 days back on 21st March, 2016 (Monday) that the higher education department cancelled the chemistry exam held on Monday as its Chemistry question paper was leaked. Thousands of students who were in second year pre-university course (equivalent to class 12) sat in the exam on the above mentioned date across Karnataka state got this disappointing news just right after the completion of exam. The question paper got leaked before the exam and was circulated in many of exam centers to many students. The PUC exams in the state is considered equivalent to second year intermediate course or 12th class in central schools. The exams began on March 11 across the state, with around 6.5 lakh students appearing in this exams for the academic year 2015-2016.

In an interview PU department director Pallavi Akruthi told IANS that “We had to cancel the second PU chemistry exam after we got to know that its question paper was leaked in some cities and towns. Later on she mentioned that the date for a re-examination hasn’t been decided yet but soon all the contenders will be notified about it.

During the investigation some students also specified that they were offered Karnataka PUC 2nd Year Chemistry Question Paper for Rs. 3,000 earlier in the day. “Some of them denied them as rumors. But those who bought them found similarities with the actual paper,” said a student from a college in Rajajinagar.

Within a few hours paper leakage the news related to the re-exam reached to the students, after that all of them started an online petition tagging the PUE Department director and titled ‘2nd PUC Chemistry re-exam Problems — why it should not happen’. Most of students said that it was not our fault so why should we prepare for this again. As, all the students have got a point that must be noted by the high command of PUE Department. A strict action must be taken against the culprits as these paper leaking issue have become quite comman, Government needs to act upon it quickly.
