UGC NET JRF 2017-18 Latest Syllabus :- The National Educational Testing Bureau of University Grants Commission (UGC) conducts National Eligibility Test (NET) to determine eligibility for lectureship and for award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) for Indian nationals in order to ensure minimum standards for the entrants in the teaching profession and research. The Test is conducted in Humanities (including languages), Social Sciences, Forensic Science, Environmental Sciences, Computer Science and Applications and Electronic Science.  On behalf of the University Grants Commission (UGC), the Central Board of Secondary Education(CBSE) holds the test for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for the Eligibility for Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship & Eligibility for Assistant Professor Both in Indian universities and colleges.

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) conducts the UGC-CSIR NET for other Science subjects, namely, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences and Earth Atmospheric Ocean & Planetary Sciences jointly with the UGC. The tests are conducted twice in a year generally in the months of June and December. For candidates who desire to pursue research, the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) is available for five years subject to fulfillment of certain conditions. UGC has allocated a number of fellowships to the universities for the candidates who qualify the test for JRF. The JRFs are awarded to the meritorious candidates from among the candidates qualifying for eligibility for lectureship in the NET. JRFs are available only to the candidates who opt for it in their application forms.

UGC NET JRF 2017-18 Preparation Tips

UGC conducts NET twice a year, i.e., in the months of June and December. The notifications announcing the June and December examinations are published in the months of March and September respectively in the weekly journal of nation-wide circulation, viz, Employment News.

Council of Scientific and Industrial Research Examination Unit has released the online registration window for the Joint CSIR-UGC Test June session.  CSIR will hold the Joint CSIR-UGC Test tentatively on Sunday 18 June, 2017 for determining the eligibility of the candidates for the award of Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) NET and for determining eligibility for appointment of Lecturers (NET) in certain subject areas falling under the faculty of Science & Technology, said a notification from the council.

CSIR UGC NET June 2017: Important Dates
  1. Date of start of online submission: 8 February 2017
  2. Date of close of deposit of fee (all station): 7 March 2017
  3. Date of close of online submission of application (all station):  8 March 017
  4. Last date of receipt of completed hard copy of online application in the Examination Unit: 14 March 2017
  5. Last date of receipt of completed hard copy of online application in the Examination Unit (from remote areas): 21 March 2017
  6. Last Date for receipt of written request for change of Examination Centre only on merit basis: 20 April 2017
  7. Tentative date of Publication of list of candidates registered for test on CSIR, HRDG website: 16 May 2017
  8. Last date for accepting of representation about non-registration for this test: 23 May 2017
  9. Issue of admit cards to registered candidates:  1st week of June 2017

UGC NET EXAM PATTERN & SYLLABUS 2017 :-

The Test will consist of three papers. All the three papers will consist of only objective type questions and will be held on June 2017 in all three separate session as under:
First (Paper-I): 100 Marks (60 out of which 50 questions to be attempted) [Duration: 1¼ Hours (09.30 am to 10.45 am, IST)]

Second (Paper-II): 100 Marks (50 questions all are compulsory) [Duration: 1¼ Hours (11.15 am to 12.30 pm, IST)]

Third (Paper-III): 150 Marks (75 questions all are compulsory) [Duration: 2½ Hours (02.00 pm to 04.30 pm, IST)]

  • All the questions of Paper-II and Paper-III will be compulsory, covering entire syllabus (including all electives, without options)
  • The candidate will have to mark the responses for questions of Paper-I, Paper-II and Paper-III on the Optical Mark Reader (OMR) Sheet provided along with the test booklet.
  • No negative marking will be there in the paper.

UGC NET PREPARATION STRATEGY 2017

Here are some of the tips/advises/techniques to score well in UGC NET examination.

Preparing well in time
If you are planning to prepare for the UGC NET exam, it is advised that you begin your preparation well in time. A minimum of three to six months is absolutely essential. Create a routine that will not only focus on completing the topics but also on revising them.

Getting acquainted with the syllabus

Run through the syllabus thoroughly. It is important that you understand the syllabus completely and prepare for each topic accordingly. Do not leave out any topic.

Prioritising the subjects

Out of the three papers, two will be based on the subject of your choice, while the other will be based on General Awareness and aptitude. It is very important that you have a complete hold over your subject, as you can score well there. While focusing your attention on the subject papers, start preparing for the General Awareness test by solving sample papers.

Making personal notes

While you are preparing the subjects, keep on making notes. This is going to help you while you are revising.

Refer to past questions

Collect as many question papers of past years as possible. It is important that you refer to the question papers and solve them. This will give you an idea of what to expect in the exam and also build the confidence in you. In case you are unable to understand or solve some questions, then it is advised that you take the help of some seniors or your teachers to help you out with the same. For it is very important that you prepare and understand each and every topic to the best of your ability.

Time management

Utilise time in an efficient manner. Have a strategy in place as to how to complete all the questions within the given time. It is best if you time yourself while preparing the subjects.

Concentrate on speed as well as quality

While your aim should be on completing all the topics mentioned in the syllabus, quality must also be kept in mind. While preparing, concentrate on improving the quality of your preparation, which means you can concentrate more on zeroing down on what exactly has to be studied and how much has to be studied, and most important – have your own views about the answers. This will help a great deal, especially if you have applied for the Junior Fellow Research.

Be confident

Last but not the least, if you have decided to take NET, then also have the confidence that you will clear it.
